Why Does My Cat Bite Me
Cat Biting
Everyone who has ever owned a cat will, at one time or another, have been on the sudden receiving end of their cat biting them. As a wholly unpredictable creature, you can never really know your cat one hundred percent. Even the most mellow and domesticated cat, can unexpectedly lash out and clamp its rather sharp jaws around its owners hand or leg.
Cat Biting Behaviour
Cat biting behaviour can be put roughly into two categories and depending on the size of the wound and the severity of your cats bite, you will soon be able to classify between the two. Simply put, your cat can bite out of annoyance or out of affection. Learning to spot the difference is important because you don’t want to start reprimanding your cat if it is showing affection, this will send out the wrong signals and its wires will become well and truly crossed. In short your cat will not know whether it is coming or going, so knowing what sort of cat bite you just received is essential.
Signs of affection or signs of aggressive behaviour?
How will you know what bite your cat just gave you? Fairly easy, are you dripping with blood? Is your cat still clamped firmly around your arm for a second helping? Is it hissing or spitting? These are basically the tell tale signs of trued cat biting. If you answered no to all these questions, then it is a fairly safe bet that your cat was just playing. If however, you answered yes to any of them then read on for further sections on changing cat behaviour problems
